7.4 - Get back up
Scripture Reading: Romans 6:6-14
Reflection: Falling can make you wonder whether anything is changing. You prayed about it. You meant what you said. Maybe you made progress, and then you found yourself back in the same place. It is tempting to think, “I guess this isn’t working.” But growth rarely happens without stumbling. A child learning to walk falls repeatedly, but falling is not proof that walking has failed. The important question is what happens next. Grace does not tell you to stay on the ground. Grace teaches you where to turn when you fall. Recognize what happened. Grieve it. Confess it. Receive forgiveness. Bring someone trustworthy into the struggle. Make the change that needs to be made. Then get up. You may notice sins today that you could not see a year ago. That awareness can be evidence of growth. Do not confuse imperfection with absence of progress. Keep turning toward Jesus and keep walking.
Application Question: Think about the last time you stumbled. What did you do next, and what would turning toward Jesus rather than hiding, excusing, or giving up look like now?
