3.1 - The Problem Is Bigger Than You Think

Reflection:
Most of us don’t struggle to believe we’ve made mistakes. We struggle to believe those mistakes matter as much as Scripture says they do. Sin isn’t simply breaking a rule. It’s breaking relationship. Like trust slowly eroding between close friends, sin creates distance between you and God. Left alone, that separation only grows wider. That’s why the cross feels unnecessary until you understand the depth of the problem. God wasn’t reacting dramatically to something small. He was rescuing you from something deadly. The good news begins with bad news because you cannot appreciate a cure until you understand the disease. Today, resist the temptation to minimize your sin or compare it with someone else’s. Instead, let it remind you how deeply God loves you. He refused to leave you separated from Him. The cross declares both the seriousness of your sin and the greater seriousness of God’s love for you forever.
