6.1 - Make Your Faith Your Own

Reflection

You can know the Bible well and still never ask what you actually believe about it. Maybe you grew up trusting Scripture because someone you respected told you to. Maybe you have questions you have been afraid to voice. Paul reminds Timothy that Scripture had been part of his life since childhood, but then tells him to continue in what he had learned and firmly believed. Timothy’s faith had become his own. Yours must too. Trusting the Bible does not mean refusing to ask hard questions. In fact, honest questions can deepen your trust when they drive you toward Scripture instead of away from it. God is not threatened by your curiosity. So bring your questions with you. Open the Bible expecting to wrestle, learn, and grow. A borrowed belief may get you started, but God invites you into a faith that has been examined, tested, and embraced by you.
