7.5 - Who are you becoming?
Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:12-17
Reflection: Sanctification is bigger than becoming someone who does fewer bad things. God is slowly forming you into someone who looks more like Jesus. Paul describes that life with words like peace, gratitude, wisdom, love, patience, and forgiveness. This is the direction of Christian growth. You may spend energy watching the sin you are trying to stop that you forget to notice the person Jesus is teaching you to become. What if growth this week looked like responding more patiently, forgiving more freely, listening carefully, or giving thanks when complaining would be easier? None of those things earn God’s love. They are signs of His life taking root in you. The goal is not an emptier list of failures. The goal is a life filled with Christ. As you end this week, ask where His character is becoming visible in you, and where He may be inviting you to keep growing.
Application Question: When you look beyond the things you are trying to stop doing, where do you see Jesus forming something new in you, and what is one area where you want to cooperate with that work?
Weekend Reflection: Take a few minutes Saturday to look back over the week. Where did you see growth? Where did you stumble, and where did you turn afterward? Bring both with you when you gather with the church tomorrow. You are not walking this road alone.
