3.3 - Justice and Mercy Meet

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 53:4-12

Reflection:
Sometimes people wonder why God couldn’t simply forgive without the cross. It sounds compassionate until you think about justice. Deep inside, you know evil matters. When someone is betrayed, abused, or harmed, you don’t hope justice disappears. You hope it is satisfied. God is no different. His holiness means He cannot pretend sin never happened. Yet His love refused to leave you condemned. At the cross, those two realities met perfectly. Jesus willingly took the judgment you deserved so mercy could be offered without compromising justice. The Judge stepped down from the bench and accepted your sentence Himself. That is why the cross stands at the center of the Christian faith. It isn’t simply about forgiveness. It is about God’s perfect character being revealed. Justice is upheld. Mercy is extended. Love triumphs. Today, thank Jesus not only for loving you enough to forgive, but for loving you enough to pay the cost Himself.
