5.2 - What Are You Close To?

Scripture Reading: Psalm 1:1-6

Reflection:

Samuel heard God’s voice while lying near the ark. The sermon reminded us that proximity changes what you notice. The same is true in everyday life. If you spend enough time around someone, you begin picking up their expressions, habits, and perspective. The voices closest to you eventually shape the person you become. Every day your attention is pulled toward headlines, social media, podcasts, opinions, and endless notifications. None of those things are inherently wrong, but they can become so loud that God’s voice feels distant. The question isn’t whether God is speaking. The question is whether you’ve created space to hear Him. Sometimes the most spiritual decision you can make isn’t adding something new. It’s removing the noise that has slowly filled every quiet moment. Today, choose one intentional moment of silence. Open Scripture. Put your phone away. Simply sit with God and allow His voice to become the loudest one in the room.

Application Question:

What regularly occupies your attention, and what simple change could help you spend more intentional time close to God?
