5.3 - Don’t listen alone

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 13:20; Hebrews 10:23-25

Reflection:

Samuel almost missed what God was saying because he didn’t recognize the voice. Thankfully, God had placed Eli beside him. Sometimes God’s greatest gift isn’t another sign. It’s another believer. We often imagine following Jesus as something deeply personal, but Scripture consistently points us toward community. Mature believers help us recognize what we cannot yet see ourselves. They ask better questions. They remind us of Scripture. They gently challenge our assumptions. They help us separate God’s leading from our own emotions or preferences. Every follower of Jesus needs an Eli. Just as importantly, every mature believer is invited to become one. Faith was never designed to be a solo journey. Today, thank God for the people who have spoken wisdom into your life. If you don’t have someone like that, pray for the courage to seek one out. God often answers prayers for direction by sending faithful people before providing detailed answers.
