5.4 - A Dangerous Prayer

Scripture Reading: Luke 22:39-46

Reflection:

Samuel’s prayer is only a few words long, yet it may be one of the bravest prayers in Scripture: “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.” What makes it dangerous isn’t the listening. It’s the surrender. Before Samuel knew what God would ask, he had already decided to obey. Jesus prayed with that same posture in the garden. He honestly expressed His desire, yet ultimately surrendered Himself to the Father’s will. That’s the heart God is looking for. Sometimes you wonder why God seems silent while quietly hoping He won’t ask you to forgive, serve, give, apologize, or step into something uncomfortable. Listening becomes difficult when obedience is already off the table. Today, pray Samuel’s prayer slowly. Don’t rush past the words. Let them shape your heart before they shape your plans. God isn’t simply looking for attentive ears. He’s looking for willing hearts prepared to follow wherever He leads.
