1.3 - Wednesday: The God Who Came Near
Scripture Reading: John 1:1-14
Reflection:
One of Christianity’s greatest surprises is not simply that God exists. It is that God came close. John begins where Genesis begins, but instead of stopping at creation, he points you to Jesus. The eternal Creator stepped into His own creation. The God who spoke stars into existence became a baby who needed to be fed. He experienced hunger, exhaustion, grief, friendship, rejection, and pain. That means you never pray to Someone who cannot understand your humanity. Jesus knows what it feels like to be misunderstood. He knows tears. He knows disappointment. He knows suffering. God did not remain at a safe distance from your broken world. He entered it. When life becomes difficult, it is tempting to assume God has stepped away. The Gospel tells the opposite story. God moved toward you long before you ever considered moving toward Him. His nearness isn’t based on your feelings. It is demonstrated in Christ.
Application Question:
How would your prayers change if you consciously remembered that Jesus understands your life from the inside instead of merely observing it?
