1.2 - Tuesday: When Your Picture Is Wrong

Scripture Reading: Exodus 34:5-10

Reflection:
Everyone carries a picture of God. Some imagine Him as impossible to please. Others picture Him as distant, uninterested, or constantly disappointed. Those pictures often come from painful experiences, difficult relationships, or years of misunderstanding. The problem isn’t that you have a picture. The problem is that your picture may not be accurate. Throughout Scripture, God continually reveals His own character instead of allowing people to invent Him. He introduces Himself as compassionate, gracious, patient, faithful, and loving. That doesn’t erase His holiness or justice, but it reminds you that His character is defined by who He says He is, not by your fears. Every time you assume God is against you without opening His Word, you allow your imagination to speak louder than His revelation. Today, ask God to gently expose the places where you’ve believed more in your assumptions than in His self-revelation through Scripture and Jesus.

Application Question:
Where did your earliest picture of God come from, and how might that picture need to be reshaped by what Scripture actually says?
